Busy time of year!

I’m keeping my fingers crossed the snow’s going to hold off for my gig tomorrow night!  Gypsy jazz inspired band Swingology will be playing at the Grapes in Liverpool at their Thursday night jazz night, and I’ll be joining them.  Swingology are a real upbeat band that will get you up dancing.  Featuring the virtuosic Rob Shepley on violin, normally seen playing with the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, driving rhythm and dazzling guitar solos from Kevin and John ‘Djongo’ McMahon, Steve Renshaw on stick bass and Tony Dolman on drum kit and vocals.  And me!  Get a sneak preview of the band at at www.swingology.org

If you like a bit of Latin music, come down to La Cubanita on Campbell Square in Liverpool City Centre on a Saturday night!  There you will spot Los Compadres, a funky four – ish piece Cuban Band that will get your hips moving!  Bernado fronts the band on guitar with bass and percussion behind, plus guest artists!  Check out my gig listings for when I’m next playing with them.  Guest vocalist Enrique is well worth a listen, brought to you direct from Cuba – his vocals and percussion playing are not to be missed.

I’m also looking forward to the next Beaufort Jazz night at Briars Hall, Burscough.  This month features Petrus, a newly formed, exciting Gypsy Jazz Outfit featuring Tom Sykes on violin, Les Bolger on guitar, Danny Mannix on accordian and the legend that is Johnny Mac on bass.  Well worth a listen.  Guest appearances from our regular gypsy jazzers are a certainty, as well as a few tunes from ‘Trez Fez and Friends’ – a pile on of as many jazz players as will fit on the stage!  I’m looking forward to a jam in the back room too – if you have an instrument then bring it down and join in!

More info on Beaufort Jazz can be found on the blog at www.beaufortjazz.co.uk .

Hope to see you at one of my gigs, if not, have a great Xmas and New Year!
